Rehabilitation of an orphaned marsupial is a long and costly experience.
A young kangaroo or koala may be in care for over 18 months before it is sufficiently developed to be released into the wild. Most Marsupials cannot absorb lactose and without their mother's milk require specially developed formulas which are extremely expensive. As Australian wildlife carers are volunteers and have to meet all their own expenses, we are inviting you to 'adopt' an orphan to help our carers carry on. The Victorian government has strict regulations regarding the size and standard of enclosures for wildlife in rehabilitation and for the standard of care they receive. WRAP orphans are not prisoners in zoos, they are wild animals developing the condition and maturity required to release them into the natural environment. Visit our orphanage gallery and meet some of the little Australians who need your help! $500 will help support the larger animals such as koalas, kangaroos, wallabies and wombats through their rehabilitation while only $250 will help to rehabilitate a possum, glider or echidna. As an adoptee you will receive an adoption certificate acknowledging the wonderful support you have provided plus quarterly reports and photographs of your orphan's progress. Please Note. It is illegal to acquire or keep wildlife without a permit! |
